Colin Duriez lives in Wallingford in Oxfordshire and writes books and poetry, edits and lectures. He has appeared as a commentator on the extended-version boxed-set of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings, Walden/Disney’s special edition of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, BBC television’s The Worlds of Fantasy, PBS’s The Question of God (about C.S. Lewis and Freud), the bonus DVD for an audio dramatisation of The Screwtape Letters (which has the great Andy Serkis as Screwtape),  and the Sony DVD Ringers about Tolkien fandom and the impact of Tolkien on popular culture. Colin has also contributed to television documentaries including, A Quest For Meaning – Myth, Imagination & Faith in the Literature of J.R.R. Tolkien & C.S. Lewis and the forthcoming, A Hobbit, a Wardrobe, and Great War . He has spoken at a variety of conferences and events on Tolkien, C. S. Lewis and the Inklings in the USA, Canada, Spain, Italy, Poland, Finland, Britain, the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland.

     His many books include, The Oxford Inklings: Lewis, Tolkien, and their Circle; Bedeviled: Lewis, Tolkien and the Shadow of Evil; The A-Z of C. S. Lewis; C.S. Lewis: A Biography of Friendship; J.R.R. Tolkien: The Making of a Legend; J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis: The Story of Their Friendship; and A Field Guide to Harry Potter. Another, AD 33: The year that changed the world, concerns first century history.  Colin compiled an anthology of English verse from over a 1000 years based on the biblical text and called The Poetic Bible. Forthcoming is a new edition of the illustrated J.R.R. Tolkien: Amazing & Extraordinary Facts from Rydon Publishing.

   Colin is currently working on a book about Dorothy L. Sayers, and is to contribute to the Summer School on fantasy literature held at University of  Oxford, “Here Be Dragons” (September 11-13, 2018, in which he’ll speak on the Inklings).
